Enjoying the process

If I ever take a little break from cyber space it's usually for one of two reasons:

  • I'm enjoying real life too much
  • I'm stressing out about real life too much
And the last few months has been a mixture of the two! But I'm back. I'm feeling refreshed. And I'm ready to take on the blogging world!

Why?

Because I had a bit of a declutter. I sought purpose in everything I do. And I'm finally at a point where I can blog and write for pure enjoyment.

You see, previously when I was self-employed, there was a constant tension between working and parenting. If I was spending time with Roo I was feeling guilty for not working. If I was working I was feeling guilty for not spending time with Roo. And if I was blogging I was feeling guilty for not making money out of it.

But now I'm in a position where, for now, none of that matters. I can enjoy parenting without the guilt and tension. I can enjoy writing and blogging for the sake of it rather than for making money. And you know what? I'm looking forward to it!

And I've already been enjoying my real life!

I've enjoyed gardening for the first time in my life.
I've enjoyed turning our house into a home.
I've enjoyed baking.
I've enjoyed trips to the park.
Digging in the garden.
Planting seeds.
Taking pictures.
Decluttering.
Sorting.
Drinking coffee.
Knitting.
Making things.

And all for the sake of enjoyment rather than for work or making money, and without experiencing the tension and guilt that goes with it.

But now, I'm back in cyber space. I want to write and I want to share. I've been hitting up Instagram recently and loving it (Check me out!), so I'm thinking it's time I jumped back on the blogging wagon and got writing.

So to kick things off and to give myself a challenge and find my own rhythm, I'm linking up with Rosalilium's Blog Every Day in May and Found Love What Now's similar challenge here. I might not always blog along using the given prompts, I'll more than likely do my own thing. The point is to get myself writing and blogging again. I don't know if I'll succeed - in fact my track record for this type of thing is rather poor! But I'm going to give it a go. And you know what? I don't mind whether you read this or not, I'm doing it for myself. But if you'd like to join in the journey with me, then like, comment, share, tweet at #BEDM and hit me up with your links so I can join your journey too.

Happy May everyone!

  1. It's very easy to lose sight of why you're blogging and get so wrapped up in SEO and monitoring your stats that you stop enjoying it. This is a very timely reminder #BEDM

  6. I think we all need a break sometimes, it's nice to step away from the cyber world and enjoy life. Taking walks with your children, enjoying baking or a simple hot coffee can make a difference. It sounds like you've loved your break and are glad to be back. Good luck with your #BEDM.
