Word for April: Gratitude

~ The quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness

I am grateful that my precious little bundle, Ruby Hope Rose, came into the world safely and without complication.
I am grateful for birthing pools, syringes of honey and understanding midwives who didn't send me home when they probably should have done.
I am grateful that I've managed to keep Ruby alive for a whole three weeks without problem - when in truth I've never even kept a plant alive that long!
I am grateful that I'm coping.
I am grateful for our parents who have been an amazing support, staying up with me, and taking care of both of us when I can't take care of her myself.
I am grateful for my husband.
I am grateful that he got a job that he actually wanted.
I am grateful that even though he isn't entitled to paternity leave, and that he had to go away on three day's training when Ruby was just a week old, I'm grateful that he is still committed to providing for his family, respecting his employer, and valuing the opportunities that God has given him.
I am grateful for modern technology that allows me to share my joy with all my friends that live far away. It makes them feel so much closer than they are.
I am grateful that Ruby has been born into a loving, secure, extended family.
I am grateful for all the lovely gifts and vouchers Ruby has received.
I am grateful for my speedy recovery time, my 'athletic pulse' (according to the midwife) and the fact that I am back in my size 8 jeans.
I am grateful for dairy free chocolate that actually tastes like chocolate.
I am grateful for silence.
I am grateful for tears.
I am grateful for cuddles.

I am grateful that it was all worth it.
